Here are a view ways you can do something with Voice Control to help things around the house. This might just be a way that you can start to convince others in your family to there are ways they can use Voice to do something other than turn lights on and off.

1. Amazon Wand
   a. $20
   b. Handheld item, can be put on fridge or on a string near where you need it
   c. Scan barcode of item being thrown in the trash
   d. Automatically populate your amazon shopping cart
   e. Can create a shopping list and add items to it –
   i. “Add Paper Towels to Shopping List”
   ii. “Remove Paper Towels from Shopping List”
   iii. List viewable in Alexa app under Lists
   iv. https://alexa.amazon.com/spa/index.html#lists/namedLists
2. Genican
   a. $149
   b. Mounts on side of trashcan or recycle bin
   c. Scan barcode of item being thrown into the trash
   d. For Items without barcode, hold it in front of Genican and tell it what you want to place on the list
   e. Uses it’s own app for building a shopping list
   f. Integrated with Amazon Dash service for ordering items

3. Amazon Dash Button
   a. $4.99 for each button (refunded on first purchase with that button)
   b. Requires either a bluetooth or wifi link to your phone
   c. A unique button is required for each item that you want to order
   d. Button only responds to first press until order is delivered
   e. Only linked to a single product, requires multiple buttons to order different products
4. Amazon Echo
   a. Can add products to shopping list by voice command
   b. List viewable in Alexa app under Lists
   c. No ability to scan bar code
5. MyCroft
   a. Can add items to a shopping list
   b. Requires the use of Home-Assistant.io platform to be able to do this
6. Google Assistant
   a. Hey Google Add “name of item” to shopping list
   b. Hey Google What is on my shopping list to display shopping list
   c. Hey Google “Delete Shopping List” to delete shopping list. You will be redirected to a webpage where you can delete the shopping list
   d. At this point, you arent able to delete or remove items from a shopping list. A request to do that will open a browser where you can select the list you want to remove or delete items from
7. Cortana
   a. Use the cortana app on your smartphone
   b. To add item, tap microphone and say add “name of item” to shopping list
   c. To remove item, tap microphone and say delete “name of item” from shopping list
   d. To show shopping list, tap microphone and say show shopping list
