How to Setup Home Assistant

Downloading of HA Image

  1. Download version of Home Assistant for your version for Rpi
    1. https://www.home-assistant.io/hassio/installation/
  2. Download and install Etcher on your computer
  3. Insert MicroSD card (using adapter) in computer
  4. Open Etcher program
  5. Select the HA OS to install
  6. Select the SD card to install HA OS on
  7. Start the image burning process

Setup RPi

  1. Install Heat Sinks on RPi board
  2. Install RPi board into case
  3. Insert Micro SD card into slot on RPi
  4. Connect Power Supply to RPi
  5. Connect RPi to Internet Router
  6. Allow about 20 minutes for RPI to boot up and download any updates

You should be able to access your new HA device using this URL – http://hassio.local:8123 

If you don’t get a web page, going into your internet router and look for the latest IP address to have been handed out and use that address – http://192.168.0.25:8123 (for example).  While you are at it, go ahead and setup a DHCP reservation for your Home Assistant Rpi so that it will get the same address everytime.
